Free Trial Japanese Language and Culture Lesson for Families with Young Children (Aged 3 to 5)

Takenoko Japanese Language and Culture School LLC offers weekly Saturday classes aimed at children who wish to learn Japanese and immerse themselves in Japanese culture in North Carolina. We provide two classes: “Takenoko” for elementary school children and older, and “Mini Takenoko” for preschoolers, in small-group settings.

In Mini Takenoko, children will learn hiragana reading while expanding their familiar world through games, songs, educational materials, and storytelling, aiming to increase everyday vocabulary.  If interested, please contact us to make an appointment.

Bilingual Storytelling Sessions for Young Children (English/Japanese)

This session is tailored for kindergarten to lower elementary school children who have recently relocated from Japan and started their journey of life in America. Through storytelling sessions using both languages, we aim to create a comforting environment where children can enjoy and gradually incorporate vocabulary and phrases they encounter in their daily lives. Additionally, we will provide tips for mothers on selecting books and conducting storytelling sessions. For inquiries, please contact us at Takenoko.nc@gmail.com.

Japanese/English Bilingual Tutoring in Small Study Community

We offer support for K-12 Japanese students in local school studies and homework. Instruction is provided by students from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We accommodate all subjects in both Japanese and English. Our service stands out for providing a supportive learning environment where students from Japan can study alongside their peers, as well as for regularly updating parents on their child’s English proficiency and academic progress in Japanese. For students in middle school and above, individualized instruction focusing on essential vocabulary and grammar to expedite English proficiency is also available.
