About Us - Why Takenoko?
We want children to grow up like takenoko, the bamboo shoots, which root firmly and grow rapidly. It is with this hope in mind that we have started our Japanese language and culture classes for children in NC. We hope that children in the U.S. are given as many opportunities as possible to use the Japanese language and experience its culture.
We understand the intrinsic connection between language and culture. Communication thrives within its cultural context, a principle we value.
Embracing the challenge of mastering a new language in a foreign setting, we fully engage our students in the genuine essence of Japanese life. Through everyday interactions and emotional expression, we guide learners toward linguistic proficiency.
Moreover, we enhance the learning process by integrating traditional Japanese cultural activities into the fabric of each season. Come join us, and explore Japan’s essence beyond language.
Objectives: To be able to speak, read and write everyday Japanese in the future. To achieve this goal, our experienced language instructors will support students.
